Absinthe Candle - Natural History Museum Edition

Artemisia Absinthium

Absinthe is a perennial shrub native to continental, temperate zones in Europe, Asia and North Africa. Called 'the green fairy,' absinthe was reputed to provide creative powers, and before being banned was the infamous muse that inspired writers like Emile Zola and Paul Verlaine, painters Vincent Van Gogh and Edgar Degas.

Inspired by the Natural History Museum, Paris.

This establishment is the metamorphosis of an older “utopian garden”, the Royal Garden of Medicinal Plants, which already provided knowledge to the scientists who administered it, and which had been created in the 17th century on the land of Alez where, in the 16th century, the philanthropic apothecary Nicolas Houël gave courses in herbalism. On this site, the tradition of teaching natural history therefore dates back almost five centuries.

PERFUME-

An aromatic, green fragrance The scent is powerful, green, plantlike. Green notes of galbanum and petitgrain mix with the aniseed scent of the absinthe absolute, supported by basil and mint. A woody base note weaves through the wake of this scented, green bouquet. Coloured illustrations from botanical plates dating from the 19th Century appear through the matte glass, greige tinted. In the center of the octagonal label, we find a cluster of Absinthe’s flowers printed in gold embossing

A plant with an intense vegetal aroma that unveils a green and aromatic fragrance softened by a woody base note.
